On the first official day for the students of Houston Christian School, they literally hit the ground running. We all piled in our transportation and headed just outside of Grenada to the countryside community that we will be spending most of our time the rest of this week.

Upon arrival, we were floored at the beauty that surrounded us, but more so at the beautiful kids and youth that join us in the open field. With a duffel bag full of bats, baseballs, and gloves and a sack of soccer balls, we quickly began playing several games with the kids. This proved to be beneficial in two ways:

1. The students of Houston Christian were able to understand where they will be serving and the dynamics of the kids.

2. (Most importantly) Some of the students were really able to connect with some of the kids out there.

It was clear to see that God is preparing the team to have a great week in the area, and it is awesome to see the students just jump right in and embrace the kids of Nicaragua.

In the coming days, we will be prayer-walking, going door to door, leading VBS, and organizing a soccer clinic. The team is helping to start some key relationships that the long-term missionaries will be able to follow up with.

Specific prayer requests would be:

  • Pray for the new relationships that will happen this week
  • Pray that the Nicaraguans understand that it is not about working your way to Heaven, but that they would understand the true sense of the Gospel and the importance of John 3
  • Pray against the enemy and his schemes that we will all stay safe and healthy, and that he will not be able to disrupt the Kingdom work being done here.
